Dogs Rule! ...and, Dog Rules.

We welcome you to the Fairlawn and hope you and your pets stay here is pleasant and event free. I love dogs in particular and like to offer this courtesy so I have put together a few things for you to review previous to coming to the Fairlawn. Again, I am in the business of making people happy, dogs, though loveable are a secondary concern.

Please keep the dog crated when you are not in the room. You can also take the dog with you if you are hiking or doing outdoor activities in lieu of crating it. If they are left behind and not crated we CANNOT clean the room so visit with the innkeeper about your options. Dogs are welcomed on the porches and yard of the Fairlawn but cannot come into the common areas of the house or rooms designated dog free.

Your pet needs to be restricted to my property or sidewalks in town as neighbors without dogs may not want them on their property and do not want to clean up after them. We have deer, bears and other wildlife in and around the property – just a heads up so you understand it is best to keep the dog leashed. The normal wildlife is often more afraid of your dog than visa versa but it is best to be cautious instead of sorry. Mother bears with cubs are particularly sensitive to dogs and intrusion into their habitat. After all, we moved into their territory.

Please clean up behind your dog, much the same as in the city – there is a compost pile in the back corner of the parking lot if you need to dispose of it.

I and all of the guests will appreciate less bark more play – the inn is an older building and sound carries so please keep that in mind when leaving the dog behind when you go out. It is mandatory to keep a contact number with the innkeeper so if there is an issue with your dog you can be called. Also keep in mind other guests may not be comfortable around dogs so respect their space and everyone will enjoy their time. This is another good reason to keep the dog leashed.

If the dog has an accident in the room it is best to address it asap so stains do not result. We have products to clean carpets and retired towels to use for just such an emergency.
If there is anything we can do to make you and your dog comfortable please let us know – enjoy your stay with us. I really would like your stay and all the guests stay to be pleasant and enjoyable so please follow common courtesies when on the property with your pet and that will keep everyone happy. If the dogs are disruptive, I get complaints other than minor ones you will be asked to leave with no refund offered. If the dog damages anything in the room or at the inn you will be financially responsible and by signing below you accept that responsibility.
